Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!!!

I am sure all of you are more than sick of hearing that at this point but it needed to be said.

That out of the way, let's look ahead to what this year has in store for us.

As far as games go, we are going to start the new year with a reboot of Devil May Cry, now known as DmC. At first glance it looks like a very polished rejuvination of the now infamous, and often copied, Devil May Cry series. Hopefully the face will be able to draw in some new gamers as well as keep those who grew up with this series. The same goes with the reimagining of Tomb Raider, showing us a side that we never saw of the heroine, and already having some controversy due to a few of its preview content, many of us will be looking to dive back into her world again as she starts her journey towards being the seasoned Tomb Raider.

Sequels were the name of the game in 2012, and it seems to not change so far with 2013. One of the big names to shine as the year begins will be the diabolic jerk back into the world of Dead Space. Dead Space 3 releases early February, and with the addition of the co-op, it looks to be shaping up to be one hell of a game. The release of DS2 around the same time last year was met with an abundance of praise, as well as the team from Visceral reaching out to the gaming community through Twitter. The integration and extension of social media becoming increasingly present as the social media scene matures.
Metal Gear is getting another title added to its already massive line. Metal Gear Rising: Revengence releases later February, hopefully bringing back some of the greatness we saw from MGS4.

We have also had pushes back that have landed several big names in early to mid 2013. South Park: The Stick of Truth is the first adaptation of the infamous and controversial series where the development was completely supervised by the creators. From the screens released thus far, the game looks like an interactive episode of the show, a movement intentionally made away from the 3D modeling of past games.

We can't forget about the long awaited third installment of the Bioshock series, Bioshock Infinite. After a few extensions of the release date, it will finally be here in late March of 2013. At this point, the characters are well known and everyone is waiting to get their hands on this new and revitalized world set in the skies.

While I am missing many of the releases that are coming out in the next few months, I have mentioned some highlights that should keep you interested for a while.

And with the unofficial start of the next console wars already set in motion late in 2012 by the WiiU, expect to see much more involving the next generation of consoles coming soon!
